Etsy Diving: Japan

Last night while the children were sleeping I did some more unpacking. I ran across a few of our Japanese souvenirs, and I started to feel terribly homesick. Crazy, right? It’s Japan. I was supposed to be homesick for America while I was gone! And I was – but really the thing that I missed most was my family. Now, here I am back in America, far away from my family and Japan. Sigh. Well, we’ve been able to keep a little bit of Japan around us in our home, and you can too through the magic of Etsy!

Lovely Japan.

Did you know that Etsy has a section for selling vintage things as well as handmade? I wasn’t aware of that, but just look at that lovely Kokeshi doll!

Yes, those chopsticks are hovering midair.

I’m totally stealing that yen bracelet idea. I have a bag full of those one yen coins and they’re light as a feather – it couldn’t be too much trouble to drill through them and I already have the supplies to turn them into jewelry. Also, that ramen ring looks delicious.

I totally understand what you’re going through. We moved back to the US from England a little over a year ago and I’m still homesick for England. I only lived there for 2 years, but it feels like I left a piece of me there. No one understands it and says, but you grew up here and you live closer to your family. It’s just not the feeling I was expecting.
