Well, since you asked – I’m a young mom, I’ve been married over two years and my (as of yet) only child is due to have his first birthday at the end of July. It’s so much more fun to make things for babies – not only is your child powerless to keep pompom or bunny-eared hats off of his head, but they work up so much more quickly than a sweater or an afghan . . . I can’t seem to stop making toys for my son, they’re so fun! And besides, I’d rather give him something made of yarn to play with than a plastic toy of questionable quality. Or durability.
I, too, often have to pry strands of yarn from my baby’s chubby, determined fingers if I’m careless enough to leave my materials within about two feet of the floor…
