Thank you,

– Thankyouverymuch. I appreciate the wonderful positive feedback I’ve gotten from everyone and all of the hits that I see I am getting on ICC. (That’s Inner Child Crochet, for those of you who haven’t read the last post. Is it too soon to start abbreviating?) As you will have noticed if you’ve visited on separate days, where once there was one, now there are two pages. Still not much in the way of content, but that should change very, very soon.

As far as craftiness goes, I do have something finished to show for myself:

2 gloves

How do you like that? I finished on Christmas Eve, just in time to sneak them into Greg’s stocking. He’s modeling them above. In this next shot, I guess he thought it would be funny to…

2 gloves (1)

Er, I’m not sure, exactly. Is he trying to make it look like he has two right hands, or that I made two right gloves? :)

That’s pretty much it for now, though. I’ve been working on my site. I’ve also decided to put a little time into another hobby of mine: photography. I’d like to think that the photos on this site have at least an aspiring artistry to them, perhaps you’ve noticed. Maybe not. At any rate, good night, and happy new year!

ACK! aka ‘Dude, Where’s My Blog?’

You may have noticed something different these last few days. What could it possibly be?

Oh, yes. The blog was gone.

I think it was being updated, or transferred, or worked on in some way. I don’t know. Stuff happens around here that I don’t know about. Don’t get me wrong, this blog is awesome. I just raised my hand one day, and all of a sudden I have my own awesome, free, purple, professionally-designed, banner-and-popup-free corner of the internet. It rules. In case you don’t know, this blog is one of the MyCrochetBlog blogs. They provided free, awesome blogs to crocheters (sponsored by CrochetMe and KPixie) as a way to nurture the online community and encourage new voices. I think it’s wonderful. It certainly helped me – I doubt I’d be doing what I am today without the platform this blog offered me. Having someone else running the site was a great way to start, too. I didn’t have to know anything about what I was doing.

I’m getting tired of it, though. I’m tired of having to contact the admin to change my sidebar. I’m tired of updates and transfers with no notice and no explanation. I’ve outgrown my space here. Missa was awesome about letting me do anything I wanted on this page. Sell patterns? Sure! Shove the ads so far down the sidebar pretty much no one sees them? No problem! (Unintentional result of adding so much stuff to the sidebar. Hahahaa.) This is just…not what I need anymore. Those of you who have been around a while have probably seen many such posts as this one. They can go one of two ways – you can go up and move ahead, or drop out.

I’m movin’ up, baby.

I decided last night to launch a long-cherished plan I’ve been saving for ‘someday.’ I’m starting a website. Go see it here. Seriously. Go look at it or I’ll never speak to you again. Thank you. Anyway, I don’t think it’s a coincidence that my blog is back this morning. I think it was time. I plan for Inner Child Crochet (for thus it is called) to be a site that offers my patterns, of course, plus possibly helpful articles, ideas, tips, tutorials, and in general stands as a beacon of originality and whimsy in the world of well-crafted crochet! Please link to it, bookmark it, and watch it. It may go slowly (you know, because I have two kids to take care of and this guy that I feed), but I hope I can make it what I want it to be.

Updates of Various Types

Cashmere count so far: 752 yards.

3 hanks

Greg gently reminded me that prior to the sweaters, I had been knitting a glove for him. And I am! Have been. Er, started again once he mentioned it. And look! Two and a half fingers done.

glove 2 in progress (2)

Curtains: I’ve managed a grand total of one more curtain since Thanksgiving (one of the two-panel plaid ones, just like this one, so no new picture for you – besides, it’s not up yet…) and it was this week. That’s only four windows to go.

FO update: remember this sweater? Guess what –

sweater

– it fits. It fits beautifully, and (precisely as I planned, muahahaha) just in time for the alleged ‘winter.’ I mean, look at that cute little boy with those cute (strangely hobbit-like) feet, playing with his cute little toys in his cute little sweater that I made and it fits and it looks lovely – dang. I’m gonna have to knit some more baby things.

Hrm, let’s see, what else…oh yes! Presents! We’ve put off wrapping them (did you know that today’s the 23rd? I think someone stole a week from me somewhere…) and it turns out, our wrapping paper was misplaced during the move. Who knows where it is now – the point is that I had to go out on December 23rd and try to find Christmas wrapping paper. I was a wise woman, and settled for a roll of white and some swag.

presents

Max has been ‘helping’ me wrap them – thank heaven he doesn’t know about peeling the back off of the bows. I actually quite like the look of the white paper with ribbons and bows, and we may do it again on purpose some time.

Anything else? No? Are we good? Well, if you’ll excuse me, I think I’m going to go teach my little boy how to use a cookie-cutter.
