Countdown to Christmas!

You would not believe the excitement around here as we switched our calendar to December. “Mommy, it’s almost CHRISTMAS!!!” Add to that a chilly damp turn in the weather and I guess it makes sense that we’re listening to Christmas songs and Max is packing a pillowcase with toys so he can play Santa. By the way, I have created the greatest Christmas station ever. I don’t know if it will work, as I’ve never tried sharing a station before, but here is a link that will possibly take you to our Christmas Pandora station. If it doesn’t work, we started the station with Gene Autry’s ‘Holiday’ album. It’s fantastic. BEST CHRISTMAS STATION EVER.

If you’re in the Christmas mood too, perhaps you’d like the recipe for a single mug of hot chocolate in no time flat?

Put about 1 cup of milk in a microwave-safe mug.

Milk!

Heat it in the microwave until it’s a tiny bit warmer than you like to drink it. I heat mine about one minute and twenty seconds. Add 1 tbsp sugar and 1/2 tbsp cocoa powder.

Cocoa!

I always have trouble getting those cocoa lumps to dissolve into the cocoa. Every time. I’ve made a game-changing discovery this week, though. To have cocoa that’s smooth AND frothy, just stick a wire whisk into your mug.

Time to stir!

Twirl the handle between your palms until it’s sufficiently mixed up.

Frothy foamy goodness.

It’s done! You can add a drop of vanilla, or some marshmallows, or a candy cane to mix things up but when it comes to a fast, warm, delicious cup of hot chocolate, this is all you need.
